DAX Eyes 100-Day MA as Banks and Bond Yields Return to Focus

Holiday Calm Supports Recovery: DAX Sets Its Sights on the 100-Day Moving Average!

The German benchmark index is consistently continuing its stabilization course. With a solid gain of 0.76 percent, the DAX climbed to 25,277.68 points, marking its highest closing price in a good week. This follow-through on Friday's recovery was aided by an exceptionally quiet trading day: because the US bond market remained closed for a holiday, the usually dominant headwind from yield fluctuations was absent, giving equities room to breathe. From a technical chart perspective, the 100-day moving average at around 25,415 points now moves into focus as the next decisive test. On the downside, the fiercely contested 200-day moving average at 24,863 points is currently acting as a reliable cushion once again.

Defense Shines, Tech Weakens: Telekom Shock Explained by Musk Plans

On the domestic trading floor, defense stocks in particular presented themselves in strong form. Rheinmetall led the board with a premium of 2.5 percent. In parallel, the fundamental mystery surrounding the dramatic plunge in Deutsche Telekom's share price last Friday was solved: aggressive expansion plans by Elon Musk's satellite network, which is specifically targeting US mobile frequencies in a frontal attack on T-Mobile US, had put the telecom group under massive pressure. While Frankfurt made up ground, sentiment on Wall Street clouded over significantly in late trading. The US technology sector and semiconductor stocks in particular recorded noticeable profit-taking. A clear warning signal that risk appetite remains extremely fragile—especially since the price of oil remains the invisible and unpredictable pacesetter given the ticking geopolitical clock in the Middle East.

Wall Street Banks and Yield Comeback: The Ultimate Acid Test for the DAX!

Today, Tuesday, the market faces a massive return of volatility. With the opening of the US bond market, new yield pressure threatens abruptly, which could suddenly end yesterday's holiday calm. At the same time, the unofficial starting gun for the US earnings season will be fired: the balance sheets of financial giants JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo will ruthlessly reveal whether the fundamental earnings strength of the companies can outshine the simmering macroeconomic risks. This top-class mix is flanked by final German inflation figures and the trend-setting US ADP labor market report in the afternoon. The core question is: Will the US banks provide the necessary fundamental thrust for a genuine breakout above the 100-day moving average, or will trailing US yields coupled with a constantly threatening Middle East escalation immediately choke off the DAX recovery once again?
