Conciliatory End to the Week: DAX Defies Oil Price Shock and Launches Recovery!

Following the severe losses of the trading week, the German benchmark index staged a noticeable counter-move. On Friday, the DAX climbed 0.86 percent to 25,544 points, achieving an important technical stabilization, even though a weekly decline of around 2.4 percent remains. The opening of trading initially proceeded extremely sluggishly as Brent oil prices temporarily surged toward the $110 mark, weighing noticeably on the trading floor. It was not until the afternoon that the release of US consumer prices brought the decisive turnaround. After surprisingly hot producer prices had fueled interest rate fears the day before, the inflation data turned out more moderate than feared, triggering a relief rally across equity markets.

Focus on Super Central Bank Week: Fed Showdown Takes Center Stage!

With today, Monday, the Frankfurt trading floor embarks on a pivotal week for global monetary policy. While today's trading day features a comparatively quiet data calendar alongside speeches from high-ranking ECB representatives and an important US court hearing on the Bayer glyphosate settlement, the upcoming central bank trio casts long shadows ahead. Three leading central banks will decide on their monetary policy stance in the coming days: Alongside the Bank of England on Thursday and the Bank of Japan on Friday, maximum investor attention is directed at the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday evening.

Monetary Policy Divergence: Will the Fed Follow the Restrictive ECB Course?

After the ECB reacted to the energy cost shock last week with its second interest rate hike of 2026, the Fed faces a complex balancing act. Recent US signals paint a divided picture of stubborn producer prices and more moderate consumer inflation. The core question for the upcoming trading week is therefore: Will the US central bank follow the European Central Bank's restrictive course, or will it grant markets a desperately needed breather? Until Wednesday's decision, the DAX is likely to remain in a wait-and-see stance marked by nervousness.
